Tonight, police are bracing for a wave of gang warfare after a major gang figure was murdered this evening. 44 year old Elwin "Bobo" Lewis - who is a leading figure in the George Street Gang - was shot around 4:45 in the area of Gwen Liz High School - which is not friendly turf for the Plues Street resident.
Lewis was rushed to the hospital where he was receiving treatment - but doctors could not save him and he died about 20 minutes ago.
At 44, Lewis - who is called Bobo is considered an elder in the gang and is an active part of the LIU work program. Unconfirmed reports say he had gone into that area to cash some LIU cheques on Iguana Extension - and was on his way back when he was targeted. Tonight his murder is considered a major event in the gang world and it is likely to prompt retaliation. At newstime, there were reports of shots being fired on Faber's Road. We'll keep following the story.
