In other police news, we today asked the commissioner about a reliable report that the head of the anti narcotics unit had failed his polygraph, or lie detector test. For that reason he had to be removed.

Now, it's certainly not the first time an ANU member has failed a polygraph. But, this one is of a higher profile, and we asked the Compol about it:

Jules Vasquez:
"I understand the commander of the ANU is no longer the commander. The report says that he did not meet the expectations of the United States - I will leave it at that - who we know is a partner in the ANU. Is the ANU without a commander right now?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"No no. The ANU has has the commander, the substantive commander, as you rightly said, was removed. We do have a MOU with the US government, in particular the DEA, as it relates to the administration of the ANU where the commander and all members must undergo certain procedures every three years and if we don't pass those procedures, then you are removed. And so, the former, or the substantive commander did not met the requirements and so he was removed. And the deputy commander is now the new commander."

Jules Vasquez:
"He failed a lie detector test."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Ahm, he did not meet the requirements."
