And as you heard in our first story, police are re-thinking the police of rushing injured persons to the hospital in police mobiles.
The Commissioner says it is wrong-headed and can lead to added difficulties:

"How do you dispel any notion form the pubic that the police were acting with animosity."
"In other occasions we've seen police take injured people to the hospital."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"If you go anywhere in the world, do you see the police taking injured people to the hospital? No. We are the only ones who practice that nonsense in Belize.It's not the proper practice, and form a medical standpoint we are constantly being chastised by the medical practitioners for doing it. And it needs to come to an end."
Jules Vasquez:
"Do you think that the officers may have acted in a in a non, non compassionate manner?"
"Because this suspect is the same person who tried to kill them."

"I wouldn't say that because when the ambulance took too long to come, the end up taking the person to the hospital."
"I think for the most part, the public outcry was because they did not know what the young man did, because they were misled by the mother who said in in the live that the young man was shot while he was passing somewhere, which is "bolles". That is not true. He is one of the gunmen who went and killed the Coast Guard and shot at the police."
Jules Vasquez:
"I know you are accustomed to acting as a judge, but you are saying this based on…. is there any physical evidence which makes a direct link?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Jules, I will not accept you saying that I always act like a judge. I think that if there is anybody in Belize who act like a judge. It's you. On your UNCUT, on your Beef. Everything you do, you act like a judge."
"In fact, right now you're trying to judge me! So you are very judgmental, my brother. No offense. But to answer your question, yes, we do have overwhelming evidence to support the fact that he was one of the persons who went to the house and shoot.
Jules Vasquez:
"But no weapon at this time."
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We are going back to the area, we have been made to understand where the weapon may have been dropped in the canal. And so we'll we're going back to the area with some equipments to see if we can retrieve it."
