In August of 2020, Jorge Leon killed his girlfriend and the mother of 3 children, 39 year old Julia Millian, and then buried her in a shallow grave. Days later, Leon pretended like none of it had happened and went to Hopkins police with his wife's sister to file a missing persons report.

But the next day he caved under questioning and told police he had killed her and buried her on a farm in Steadfast village, Stann Creek. He led police to the body and was charged for murder.

He claimed that on the last day of July he was with Millian at a farm when she struck him twice with a stick and allegedly said she was going to kill him. He took away the stick and then clubbed her with it, killing her on the spot. He then took a shovel and buried her right there.

But when his trial started in May, his attorney Hurl Hamilton told the court that he wanted to plea down to Manslaughter. The prosecutor accepted the guilty plea and he was today sentenced to 14 years in prison. The 55 year old has already served 4 years on remand - so he has 10 years remaining.
