
The man caught for posing as a BEL employee could face up to 7 years in prison. He is 46 year old Denfield Lemmoth, formerly convicted multiple times for crimes of dishonesty and burglary. Lemoth appeared in the magistrates court this afternoon represented by Simeon Sampson who was substituting for his official attorney, Rowell Gonzalez.
Lemoth is accused of entering the home of Cornel Brown on Friday May 17th, and proceeding to steal up to $2,520 worth of goods. He was read one count of burglary by Magistrate Lois Young, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor expressed a heavy objection for bail given Lemoth's 2 previous theft convictions from 2014 and a recent burglary charge from 2022. After Lemott's record record was shared with the court, The Magistrate noted that it appeared from his record, he is, "a menace to Society." The prosecution added that surveillance footage was obtained to support the most recent allegations against him.
Lemoth was previously incarcerated between 2014 and 2021 where he was sentenced to 18 months and 5 years for two theft convictions. His burglary charge is active in the lower court which started earlier this year in a trial.
With all that he was remanded and expressed disappointment noting to the court that he has managed to stay out of jail for the past 6-7 years.
He has been remanded until June 11th for a bail hearing.
