Allan Slusher has held multiple senior posts in the government for over 30 years - from governor of the central bank to the president of the University of Belize.
But last night the 78 year old was just another victim of crime.
He arrived at his Burrell Boom home in the Castelton area around 6:30 pm and parked his grey Toyota Hilux in front of his house. As he stepped out, he was ambushed by four men, three of whom were armed with handguns resembling 9mm pistols. They ordered him to open his house, where they took him inside and took his personal 9mm pistol. They then tied him up with pieces of wire and duct-taped him as they ransacked his house.
They left with his pickup and made good their escape.
