It's the video we've all seen a hundred times, and commented on or discussed at least half as many times, either privately or publicly. But even after all that ventilation, tonight the picture is still unclear on what happens next in the very public case of Sergeant Devon Makin and detainee Ryan Melendez.

After our expose last night of the police medico legal form showing that Melendez did go into the police station after Makin pistol slapped him - today in Cayo, the Commissioner of Police adjusted his narrative slightly. He's backing off his extreme pronouncement of two days ago when he pronounced Melendez guilty. Today, he would only say that he was part of a suspect group:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I managed to get a read of the statements yesterday that were recorded form the two minors who had stopped Mr Makin and reported to him that they were being chased by these individuals."

"One of the issues is that the minors would not be able to identify who those persons were that chased them for the simple fact that they were masked. But if we can have some clarity in terms of the type of clothing that the two chasers were wearing and if we can compare that with the clothing that the young man had on that encountered Mr Makin, then we can say that is the same person. But it is important to note that the same group that that young man was in is the same group that was responsible for the chasing. Whether or not he is one of those persons doing the chasing I cannot say that at this time until we can have some clarity on the matter."
