And, on Sunday the body of a man, Berly Thompson was found floating in the Macal River. It was reported that Thompson was last seen early on Saturday morning returning from the Benque Fiesta.
Police didn't say much more than that his body was found floating in the Macal on Sunday:
ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"On Sunday police responded to reports that a body was seen floating in the Macal River. Police responded where they retrieved the body of a male person. He was identified as Berly Thompson of Cayo. Information that Berly Thompson had been reported missing the night prior and thereafter his body was found. The body was identified and taken to the morgue where it is awaiting a post mortem examination to determine the cause of death."
So what really happened? Cayo Police got a report at 3:49 am on Saturday morning saying that a male person was seen jumping off the Hawksworth bridge. That's what led the family to go check in the river where they found Thompson's body about 200 yards away from the bridge.
