She is the second Garcia to become PUP standard bearer in The Corozal bay. Her brother Greg "Papas" Garcia was the PUP candidate in 2012 and 2015, but lost both times.
And then in March of 2019, he disappeared - and no explanation has ever been given.
Yesterday, Thea Garcia did not let the day go by without reflecting on the values and lessons imprinted on her as she watched her brother walk the political path, she would also walk years later.
Thea Garcia Ramirez, PUP Standard Bearer, Corozal Bay

"That's my only sibling and so Papas is certainly always in my heart as siblings you know we only have each other, and I would say that I try everyday to be as patient as he is he is a really calm fellow. I'm a little bit more passionate. I really admired him for that everything slides off him, slides off his back he was a really cool fellow under pressure and I try to emulate that every day and he has inspired me. I don't want to say that I have done anything and I've done it alone there's many people on whose shoulders I stand to get where I am and certainly my brother figure is one of the most influential people politically and I've learned a lot from him I met a lot of the people through him and wherever he is you know I appreciate and I thank him for that."
Elvi Vega now becomes a lame duck area representative, the first in memory to lose her position as standard bearer while still holding a seat in the House.
