A shop owner was attacked, and a customer was held at gunpoint. Surveillance footage which captured the incident that occurred inside Starhall Jusco yesterday made its rounds on social media and Jomarie Lanza went to find out today what exactly happened. Here's what she learned.
Just after 7:00 last night, as shoppers made their way in and out of Starhall by Jusco shopping center on Central American Boulevard, this woman walked in along with her boyfriend and approached the main counter hoping to exchange a pair of shoes she had bought a few days ago.
We spoke to the shop owner today, who was assisting the customer from behind the counter and she explained to us that the young lady did not bring a receipt for the item and their exchange policy had already expired.
She says that she explained to them there was nothing she could do, and that's when the customer suddenly snapped and grabbed her by her hair from behind the counter.
The owner says that everything happened very quickly, and when the customer had grabbed her she let out a scream which alerted her husband who was also behind the counter with her.
Surveillance footage from the entrance at the store further captures the scuffle, where the other shop owner in yellow pulled his gun on the customer's partner.
As the staff quickly moved to try and defuse the situation, the customer crawled over to another check out counter and pulled a frying pan as a weapon, and continued to attack the store owner.
Eventually both women, the shop owner and customer were separated and both the customer and her partner were shown out of the store. Fortunately though no one was seriously hurt, and the store owner only received a few scratches and red marks on her hands and arms.
We did try and speak to Calbert Young - who was the one being held at gunpoint - but he strictly avoided us.
As far as we could find out, no police report has been made, so charges are unlikely to arise.
