She's considered the Southside queenpin and Doris Grant has a number of pending charges against her ranging from real estate fraud to being a gang member.

Today she was in court for the gang membership charge. However, while she would likely normally be out on bail, she is in prison, locked up under the State of Emergency.

And now, she has one more very big legal problem: the police are reportedly investigating her in connection with a murder, but gave her no further details.

Bradley says it's unjust.

Richard "Dickie" Bradley, Attorney

"I was here on another matter but I spoke with her because she's my client in another court and in fact I was able to, she brought down her papers and you won't believe this, this was shocking to all of us, Doris Grant is in prison because she's under the state of emergency for murder. Man, they could just put a charge on anybody like that. Who she murdered, when she murdered, nothing like that is there but she is in the hole in the prison because she's alleged to be involved in gang and the paper who took her to state of emergency is that she's also being accused of being involved with a murder. Who when where? Anyhow, you all have been hearing the news that in our wonderful country a 13-year-old can be taken to the prison and presumably also according to a legal representative for the family, it's alleged that he also is in the hole. Man, it's like, for me, it's just becoming unacceptable that these things are going on right in front of everybody's eye."

"I'm not sure if documentation has been given to her and I was a little bit, slightly concerned that this business of a tribunal is being exposed because previously they just pick you up and throw you in, you don't go in front of any tribunal, nobody follows any law."

The matter of the gang charge was adjourned until October 21st.

And Grant also has another land fraud case in the High Court. A man residing in the US named Norman Smith, brought a suit against her for 206,000 dollars. She did not appear, and a default judgement for that amount was entered against her in January.
