Two men accused of a murder in mid-June where the 21 year old victim was shot 30 times have been charged.

But, right after 28-year-old Michael Middleton and 23-year-old Kyle Roberts were charged jointly for murder - one of them escaped.

ASP Stacy Smith told us more about Middleton's escape today.

"Today the 4th of July 2025 police formally arrested and charged 2 men in connection with the murder of Travis Darnell Smith which occurred on 13th of June 2025. 28 year old Michael Middleton, a Belizean construction worker and 23 year old Kyle Roberts a Belizean truck driver both of Roaring Creek Village Cayo District have been jointly charged for the crime of murder. Regrettably, subsequent to Middleton's arrest he escaped from lawful custody and as such is wanted by police, Middleton is medium built and he stands at approximately 5ft 8 inches in height and is brown in complexion. The department anticipates that it will be able to apprehend Middleton in due course but it takes the opportunity to remind the general public that it is an offence to knowingly harbour conceal or assist in the harbouring or concealing of a wanted person and that offence is punishable with up to 5 years imprisonment."

Police are conducting an internal investigation into what led to his escape.
