On Monday you heard from the family of 25 year old Shawn Armstrong Jr, who felt that the police weren't properly investigating the death of their loved one.

Armstrong had been riding a motorcycle with 25 year old Darrel Montero on October 17th when they crashed. Montero died instantly, whereas Armstrong died a week later. The incident was initially reported as a traffic fatality, but the families say that the men were deliberately run off the road by a vehicle.

The family also claims there are reports of surveillance footage capturing the driver of the vehicle washing blood off of it.

Today, ASP Stacy Smith explained that the investigation is still open and they are asking for the public to turn over any useful footage.

Courtney Menzies:
"Will the police reopen the investigation into this accident considering the family is saying that the men were purposely chased down and knocked down?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer

"The investigation in relation to Mr Montero and Armstrong was not closed, it remained an open investigation. As a matter of fact, police have received some of the same indications that you have made and we have been following up on it as well as reviewing footages in the area. I must advise though that no video camera showing what you stated that persons said they saw has been turned into the police so I'm certainly making an appeal for those persons who have that footage to turn it over to the police so that that can advance the investigation."

Courtney Menzies:
"At any point was anybody detained?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"Yes, a male person was detained, an interview was conducted and photographs were taken of a vehicle that was alleged to have been involved in that accident."

Courtney Menzies:
"And Mr Armstrong, before he died, was he able to give a statement?"

ASP Stacy Smith, Staff Officer
"No statement was recorded from Mr Armstrong, the police officers would have attempted to do so. I believe that most persons believed that Mr Armstrong would have been able to make a full recovery so I don't think there was an insistence at least on his part because police did seek to record that statement but the information that we have so far and certainly persons say that there exists video cameras, we invite those persons to bring that in so we could continue the ongoing investigation."
