According to police Middleton was driving a GMC SUV when he lost control. Staff Officer ASP Stacy Smith gave us further details today.

"On Sunday 9th of November 2025 at approximately 2:35am information was received of a road traffic accident on George Price Highway at the entrance of Ontario village located in the Cayo district the responding officers observed a GMC SVU which showed extensive damages and also they observed the unresponsive bodies of 2 persons who were later identified to be Ashley Mejia, 27 years of age a Belizean of Ontario village as well as Jovan Middleton a 27 year old of the same village. Initial investigation has revealed that Mr Middleton along with Ms Mejia were traveling in the SUV from an East West direction when middleton is reported to have lost control of the vehicle as he approached a curve that is at the entrance of Ontario village. This loss of control caused the vehicle to be overturned and resulted in the untimely demise of these 2 individuals both persons were escorted to the Western Regional hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival and a post mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted."
