47 year old Luis Castellanos was arrested and charged yesterday for aggravated burglary and the offense of possession of utensil for smoking controlled drugs. The incident occurred in a new crime hotspot in Cayo, Guana Belly Drive in Bullet Tree Falls on Tuesday morning just before 9:00. Margaret Gallagher and her husband Thomas Gallagher were returning home when they were held at gunpoint by two men. They were taken inside the house and forced to kneel down. Their hands were tied behind their backs and the men demanded money, a gun, and their vehicle keys. They searched the home and stole two iPhone and the vehicle keys.

When police arrived on scene they saw Castellanos attempting to open the front gate. Another man was downstairs wielding a firearm. Both men ran behind the yard when they saw the police. The officers chased after them and caught Castellanos in the bushes while the other man escaped. When police searched Castellanos they found a silver metal crack pipe in his pocket. The cellphones were later recovered in the bushes near the home.

We note that earlier this month, another vehicle theft occurred in Bullet Tree Falls. This community, which is near the western border, has been plagued by burglars who specifically target vehicles. A realtor was also killed around there in June.
