A 22-year-old barber from Carmelita Village will spend one year in prison after pleading guilty to stealing a vehicle and cellphone belonging to a Belize City engineer.
Anzur Jenkins appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison this week in the Belize City Magistrate's Court, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft. The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, when Jenkins stole a 2010 Infiniti car valued at $22,000, along with an Iphone valued at $1,000. During a police interview, Jenkins admitted to taking the vehicle and cellphone without the owner's permission and driving to Cayo. Both items belonged to Raybert Tevin Laing, a 31-year-old engineer of Belize City.
For his guilty plea, the magistrate imposed custodial sentences of one year for the theft of the vehicle and six months for the theft of the cellphone. The sentences run concurrently, meaning Jenkins will serve a total of 12 months.
