A working woman caught a cab to get home, but ended up in jail. Twenty year old taxi driver Norman Grant and thirty one year old Sherre Ann Card, a call center agent, appeared yesterday evening before a Senior Magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate's Court, where they were jointly charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm, a black Taurus nine millimeter pistol, and keeping ammunition without a gun license after police found four nine millimeter rounds.

Both Grant and Card pleaded not guilty to the charges. During the arraignment, Card told the court that she was only a passenger and was being given a ride, adding that she has a job at a call center and cannot miss work. But the Senior Magistrate explained that she would have the opportunity to present her defense at trial. Due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied and both accused were remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March 20, 2026.
