And what about the sugar roads that have faced years of PUDP neglect? Well Dr Martinez says most of the roads don't need rehabilitation. However, he said 10% do need just that:
Dr Osmond Martinez, Minister of State for Foreign Trade
"There is 1.2 million dollars that has been invested to rehabilitate the sugar roads and one of the issues that we had last year is the intensive amount of rain, not only in terms of volume of rain but also in the amount of days it was raining. We thank god that practically at the beginning of this year it hasn't been raining and so MIDH has been doing a fantastic work in the cane field so I personally took a day to tour a good percentage of the roads and I would say that at least 60 to 70% of the roads they are in very good condition, we have about 10% of the roads that need a lot of work of which MIDH has already recognized it and identified where it needs to work. Others they need a little bit of work but they need some work."
