A 20 year old man beat his second murder charge today as he awaits trial for a third.

Dorian Anthony was 18 years old when he was arraigned for the murder of 42 year old Trenton Webster who was gunned down outside his house in October of 2023.

But today he was acquitted from the murder of Trenton Webster due to what the judge ruled as an inadmissible statement from the crown's main and only witness. The trial lasted 4 days, and in a no case submission made by Anthony's attorney Lynden Jones, he claimed that there is no evidence capable of supporting a conviction, given that there has been no identification showing that his client Dorian Anthony was the shooter. Here is how Jones explained what transpired in court today before justice Nigel Pilgrim.

Attorney Lynden Jones

"For this young lady the fiancé of the deceased was the only eye witness there was no video no forensic, nothing else to tie Mr Dorian Anthony to the case therefore once the judge gave his decision that he was not accepting the previous inconsistent statement, the crown closed it's case and we did a no case submission which was upheld by justice pilgrim."

"The judge was saying that Belize is signatory to an act or signatory with other countries in the Caribbean to protect witnesses and this act came into effect from 2006 however the administrative part they are not using it fully as yet and he is stating that even though it did not go against Dorian Anthony and he is drawing no inferences he could have seen that the witness on the stand was terrified and he was making the comment that he is of the opinion that the government should look into start using the act and enforcing it since it is already in place since 2006."

"Unfortunately this was an assigned case given to me by the court and I am being told by Mr Anthony that he has another matter before the Belmopan high court which is for a similar offense that of him being accused of murder and therefore he won't be released from prison today however he has one less case to worry about."

Anthony is presently awaiting trial for a third murder that occurred in Belmopan,
