Tonight, Dangriga Police and the village community of Sarawee are trying to figure out how an eight month old boy could have died of blunt force trauma to the head.
So far it has been reported to be an accident, and the baby was in the care of his mother when it happened.
Jomarie Lanza went south to find out more. Here's her story.
Burial preparations are currently underway in Sarawee Village for 8 month old Kevin Emmanuel Jr., an infant who died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and body.
The child is said to have fallen down the stairs while the mother was doing some chores Tuesday afternoon. And by the time the family made their way to the Dangriga hospital the baby had passed away. The chairman of the village says that he strongly urges parents to keep a more watchful eye on their little ones, especially at home.

Alston Mclaughlyn, Chairman Sarawee Village
"My sympathies goes to the family, my condolences and it is so sad that we lost a young child and I want to appeal to the community the general community for people to be more careful with their children because things could happen, so whatever really happened or what transpired definitely I can't give a heads up on it."
"All parents are supposed to know that children need a lot of care, a lot of eyesight, be more close you know especially the ones that can't move on their own you always have to be vigilant to know their safety, to keep them safe."
A post mortem concluded that baby Emmanuel's cause of death was due to Asphyxia, Broncho aspiration of gastric content as a consequence of blunt force trauma to the head and the body. The baby's body was identified by his father Kevin Emmanuel Sr. who declined comment - as did the mother.
We'll let you know if any charges are brought.
