And there is another murder to report tonight, this one in Corozal. One man is dead after a shooting in the Rainbow Beach area of Corozal Town. 55 year old Santos Escobar was killed at his home around 8:40pm last night.
Notably, there was a shooting at the same residence on the 9th of March weekend. Police say that no nexus has officially been established between the two incidents:

"Police are investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the death of Santos Escobar, 55 years of age of Alta Mira village, Corozal district. The investigation commenced on Tuesday 21st April, 2026 at around 8:40pm when Corozal police were advised of a shooting incident on Fifth Street, Corozal Town. The officers were advised that the shooting victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Officers visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital. What the investigation has so far revealed is that on the mentioned date and time, Mr. Escobar was along with two other persons socializing in front of a residence when a male person approached them and fired several shots whist Mr.Escobar was injured and later succumbed to that injury, the two other persons escaped unscathed. We have retrieved a number of video footages that we are hoping to be of assistance in the ongoing investigation. No motive has been established to far."

"We have received reports that another person was shot along with Mr. Escobar; can you confirm if that is so?"

"I do not have that information, I'll have to make checks and get back to you."
"It's an ongoing investigation as I stated no motive has been established, however we do know that there was another shooting incident at that very location on 9th of March and on that occasion we did not get much from the person whose house was shot up however we are investigating to see if there is any nexus between those two incidents."
