On Friday, the US government congratulated Belize's security forces for what it called "one of the largest drug seizures in Belize's history." That was the 551 kilos intercepted on April 10th in the Corozal District.

But, as we have told you there have been much larger busts - at least three times that size.

Compol Chester Williams said during his tenure, he had one four times that size:

Chester Williams, Former Commissioner of Police

"Our bust on Coastal Road was about 4 times that size I must say. We also have the one prior to my time at Benny's Apartment where Moreno and the crowd were arrested that was the second largest in the country, that was also a sizable amount. So maybe the Embassy was misinformed on the information but we have had much larger busts in Belize for cocaine."

Our records show that February 2020 busy was two tons - the one on April 8th was half a ton.

In 2010 police made a bust of 5,700 pounds, which is the standing record, according to our archive.
