Police in Dangriga are investigating an attempted kidnapping reported on Wednesday, April 22, involving a 17-year-old student.

A 50-year-old mother reported to police that her 17-year-old son was walking south along Tibruce Street when a silver Chevrolet Equinox pulled up beside him. The driver allegedly attempted to force the teen into the vehicle. The student managed to break free and ran from the scene, prompting the vehicle to speed off south along Tibruce Street. The young man told police that the suspect appeared to be a light-complexioned male, approximately 70 years old.

And, in related news, social media reports surfaced today of children being harassed by persons presenting as missionaries in Benque Viejo.

They were in a white van—harassing, in the words of one parent, children to participate in their religious activities. Parents have since been complaining on social media and have called local police to intervene.
