He says he wants to change the world and if given the chance, Ryzden Clare will do it...with music videos alone. The young rapper has sung of better days and cried with Sweet Tea in past videos but this time, he's flipped the script. Not only did he direct his new video but "Cry" shows the conscious rapper dabbling in lover's rock and flirting with the bling bling scene. So what happened to the conscious Ryzden? Well he gave us a first peek at the new video today and says "Cry" is just art imitating life.
Ryzden Clare, Rapper
"The message is that you may be in love and you may be paying special attention to the person that you're in love with too much and you're not paying attention to the Father, God. This is a real personal video. Its personal because people like to say its life imitating art but with this its art imitating life.
The aim is to show versatility, that is the main aim and so that is why the video came about and there are many more to come because I have interest to go down various avenues which I want to touch, music wise, with different styles and patterns. The art form exists in all different angles and all different aspects and some people might be like, 'yes you could do this but you can't do that,' well I just did."
You can see the full video for cry in rotation on Channel 7. Firestorm helped with production. His full CD, "subjects of life," will be available in stores on Thursday. Ryzden will be performing at Saturday's Belize Entertainment Awards show and he is also nominated as the best vocalist and best reggae/dancehall artist.
