Today BDF Lieutenant Rogelio Ramirez made history when he became the first BDF soldier to become a Kaibil, which is the Guatemalan elite forces. Before dawn this morning Alfonso Noble set out to Poptun in Guatemala where the passing out was held. He spoke to Ramirez who was proud and having made history and having bridged a gap between two distant neighbors.
Rogelio Ramirez,
"I am the first in Belize, it mean a lot. I have to say that it's a big weight on my shoulder that I had to carry, even while I was here. They always told me you were the first BDF and you have to show that you are a good soldier, a professional soldier, and I have to say it was difficult and I have to say that Belize kept me going and going because I went back home without being a kaibil then I would have let down my country and the BDF on a whole."
