As a apart of Civil Aviation Day activities, two skydivers from Tsunami Skydivers in California jumped out of a BDF Defender and sailed into the MCC grounds. We spoke to the two adrenaline junkies after they landed.
Skydiver #1,
"I had to pass the helicopter and I was coming in fast and had to put the brakes on and come all the way down and it stopped because I waited too long. The winds on this tree, you these tree right there, the winds on trees, if you come on top of a tree, they swirl down and so it pushed me down."
Jules Vasquez,
How much did it hurt?
Skydiver #1,
"It didn't hit that hard. It looked like I slipped more than anything. I slipped."
Skydiver #2,
"Right at the end I slipped and I caught my foot in a little hole there."
Skydiver #1,
"I got too close to that tree and I bounced so I should have been back over here if that helicopter hadn't been there because that is where I had planned on landing."
The skydivers volunteered their services. They are the same group that led a skydiving expedition in San Pedro in February.
