Firebrand Pastor Rodney Gordon is dead. Gordon was a prominent Baptist Pastor, a tireless community activist and a committed counselor, most known for taking hard line opposing positions on issues relating to condom use and gay relationships. His younger brother Terry Gordon this afternoon told us he passed away in his sleep.

"I got the call about shortly before 4 am this morning that my brother had passed away at his daughter's home. I got the call that he had passed away in his sleep suffering from a heart attack."

Is this problem he had for many years?
Terry Gordon,
"For a little while now, I'd say somewhere from five to six years or so he has been suffering from heart problems. He went away actually three times to the USA to check up on it and he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart so that's a condition he has been suffering with for sometime now and in fact was taking medication, in fact I think just this week he visited his doctor here in Belize City.
He was my role model Alfonso. He was my role model. He is the person I looked up to and so that tells you how much he means to me and he certainly is going to very much missed by us all. Living in Independence Village, we didn't get the opportunity to see him as often as we would like considering the fact that my other brothers and sisters, we all practically reside in Belize City and surrounds. So it was always a big moment for us because when he is around, he really makes his presence felt, even when he is with family. Everybody, just about everybody you can think of, has been calling offering their condolences and sympathies to the family and every time its like rehashing all over again."
Gordon was living and ministering in Independence Village.
