And while the budget is usually one of the parliamentary and political highlights of the year, this year the PUP members seemed slightly out of sorts, perhaps bewildered by the recent defeat at the polls or burdened by the revelations of wrongdoing at City Hall in Belize. Whatever the case, the man they must look at to lead them out of the post defeat depression is Party Leader Said Musa. We figured by now, he'd have something to say about the scandal at City Hall. Well...maybe not quite ready...here's how that went.

Jules Vasquez,
Sir do you have anything to say about the former mayor of Belize City?

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"None at all."

Jules Vasquez,
But there is $400,000 in missing money, public funds.

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"I told you I have nothing to say man. You don't understand I have nothing to say?"

Jules Vasquez,
But sir you are answerable.

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"Oh am I? "

Hon. Dean Barrow,
"Well I believe that the Prime Minister ought to have made a statement and its not too late. I will not say anything personally about David Fonseca. The facts speak for themselves and I do not believe in kicking a man when he is down. But David Fonseca, the individual apart, the issue is such that really the Prime Minister, as leader of the PUP, ought to say something to the nation and I'll leave it at that."

We should note that while Fonseca has signed a two year contract to work as the Secretary General there is some dissent over his appointment and continued holding of that post in some quarters of the PUP.
