"Lik It," that is the name of the show and it's also what more than 30 performers will be doing tonight on the main stage at the Bliss Center. It started off as a poetry festival but now 11 poets, ranging from E. Roy Cayetano to Erwin X will be performing, backed by singers, dancers, and T.V. screens. Showtime is 8, but rehearsals were on this morning and that is where we caught with two performers, Kalilia Enriquez and Ansel West.
Kalilia Enriquez, Host/Performer
"I'm going to be performing a poem called, Execution Style. Its something that people always ask me to perform whenever I go to the Lyrical Lounge and it's a poem dedicated to the memory of Leslie Rogers Jr. and I am going to be performing it with some enhancement, courtesy Channel 7. So I really want to encourage people to come out to the show, see me perform my poem."
Ansel West, Performer
"I have a performance that's called the 'night creeps' and its going to be performed with me, my sister and my two daughters. Basically its a poem about child molestation, incest, and its a story about a young girl that is being molested by her uncles and father and in the midst, her grandmother is right in the house and she knows exactly what is taking place but she's not helping because the father has had rehabilitation now and he basically is starting to realize that his molestation towards his daughter were wrong and during that process he begins to fun out that he also was molested by his mother when he was a child so the story goes on and on."
The show will be hosted by Kalila along with Kenny Morgan and the Grandmaster.
