It can be considered a real-life soap opera and today we give you another installment in the life of the workers at Ready Call who more often than not have a contentious relationship with the company's management. Today, former workers who claim they were fired because they wanted to unionize picketed the Ready-Call office. They told us they are doing it because the company remains unwilling to allow workers to unionize.
Monica Hemmans,
"No I am not an employee of Ready Call anymore but majority of the agents, we all talk and discuss different issues and so forth and they want BCWU to represent them. We are just out here as former employees of Ready Call Center and we're just fighting for our rights, their rights, and for fellow people's rights that go to Ready Call for a job, to make sure that what happens to us and to agents at the moment right now does not happen to them.
The most important thing is to get unionize, that is the most important thing because only that way will we have true justice with matters at Ready Call Center."
Alfonso Noble,
However, what are you saying? It's not being allowed? I saw a letter you showed me that Ready Call says they are ready to accept any union to come into their establishment, they have no problem with it but you all are saying no?
Monica Hemmans,
"Ready Call sends out mixed messages. If you read further in that letter you will see how they are manipulating people and telling them they could start their own union, Ready Call Center Union, and they also inform them that they could go to the tripartite body and different steps they could also take when they know fully well that majority of the agents want BCWU to represent them."
Hemmans says they are planning to picket ready call center next week.
