And as we go to break, we note the passing of former parliamentarian and PUP southern stalwart, David McKoy. He died yesterday of a massive heart attack in the Dangriga Hospital. A statesman in the truest sense, McKoy served as the PUP's representative for Rural Stann Creek from 1957 to 1989, an extraordinary 32 year run. He was appointed to the first Cabinet after self-government was attained in 1964.
McKoy was 77 and the father of 12. He will be buried with full honors in Dangriga and Belmopan. The funeral mass will be held in Dangriga and the body will be transferred to Belmopan for the official burial.
