Last night we introduced you to the five young ladies who want to be the next Miss Ladyville. Tonight you are going to meet five more young ladies. These girls want to be Miss Belmopan Queen of the Bay. It is notable because for the first time in about five years, the winner of the Miss Belmopan Pageant will represent the garden city in the national Queen of the Bay pageant next month. Keith Swift had a chat with the girls yesterday. We begin with 18-year-old Jewelee Waight who is representing the new site area of Belmopan.
Jewelee Waight: I decided to enter this pageant because my family and friends motivated me to enter this pageant. I just want everybody to come out and enjoy everything and it will be just a surprise. It is a privilege to enter into this pageant and to be a part of it.
Dalia Vellos: I think it is a way of serving my country and my friends

and family motivated me to do it too. It means a lot. It is an honor to be part of it and represent your area and talk about it. You get to learn new things.
Makeda Obi: I decided to enter because my friends and family encouraged me so I just want to have the experience. It is a part of our heritage and history so it means a lot. I think everybody have a chance of winning but I will just do my best.
Kimberly Pitts: My friends and family encouraged me and I also want

to see if I had enough self confidence in myself to take part and possibly win. I think I have a good chance.
Grace Williams: I am the only village girl entering this pageant so I will give it a shot.
The pageant is scheduled for 7:30 pm on Saturday at the University of Belize's gym. Ticket prices range from $15 to $5. Stay tuned tomorrow when we'll show you the young ladies who want to be the queen of carnival '06.
