A new Miss St. Michael's College will be chosen on Friday night. The school is holding its annual pageant to raise much needed funds. Serious business, but the six contestants say they are in it just to have fun. We met them yesterday and got a preview of Friday's show.
The contestants are: 16-year-old Natasha Hamilton, 17 year old Leticia Moody, 14 year old Neshawn Martinez, 15 year old Janine Webster, 15 year old Simone Nunez, and 15 year old Lisa Hinds.
Georgia Griffith, Pageant Coordinator
"This year we are having the pageant under the theme: Belize embracing its natural beauty and we have six lovely contestants and all these contestants either a flora or fauna from our country.
One of the major reasons for the pageant is that it is one of our major fundraisers, you know funds to continue in the development of the school throughout the year. But another reason is to get the girls in activities that are positive and activities that will highlight their talent and their abilities and at the same time build their confidence."
Friday's pageant begins at 7 pm and it will be held at the Parish Hall. Tickets are only $5. Among other prizes, the winner gets a scholarship.
