And one man who might have fit right in with the energy at that event is reggae dancehall music's famed Admiral Bailey. Just like those kids, he's in school...except his is the old school. He's been doing dancehall three decades and tonight - for the first time Bailey is in Belize. The man who became famous for singing about his big belly arrived today and is scheduled to perform tomorrow night at the Princess Hotel. He stopped by studios this afternoon and gave us a preview of his show.
Admiral Bailey, Performer
"We are here and for the first time and they always say first impression lasts so I am trying to make this first impression be a lasting one in terms of when I am finished, people will want to see me again here in Belize. So come tomorrow, I am going to go all out. I am an artist like this, yes I may look a little jaded now but by tomorrow I will be ready to go.
As the promoter rightfully said, we are contracted for half hour but knowing me, that is going right through the window 'cause this is my first trip and you can't come to Belize and give the people them half hour. The people they need more than that. That is one of the things which I bring to the table as an original artist. I don't just spit up in a mic and jump off the stage, me work for the people. They pay their money and they come to see me perform and that is what I do."
Admiral Bailey performs tomorrow night at Club Next.
