A funeral was held today in San Pedro Town for former PUP Mayor Gilberto Chico Gomez, a former Mayor of San Pedro.
But he's not just any Mayor, he's the Mayor that San Pedranos call the father of their township.
That's because Gomez got the former fishing village declared a town in 1984.
Every year on Township Day, Gomez would be visited by the Mayor-in-office to honor his contributions to the community. In most of these special visits, monetary tokens were presented to Gomez by the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) administration.
The San Pedro Sun says Don Chico will be remembered as a man who loved his town, and its people along with her traditions.
The PUP called him a "great townsman and visionary who was known for his humility."
