Tonight, the Queen lies in state at Westminster Abbey, and in Belize, there were two condolence books for those wishing to express feelings of loss and perhaps gratitude to the memory of the Queen and the Royal family. The first of those books was at the British High Commission in Belmopan, but the second was at the Government House, a home in which the Queen enjoyed two state dinners in her honour.
We headed there today to witness special condolences from the Prime Minister Of Belize and later asked him why he felt the need to take the time out for these well-wishes.
Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister Of Belize

"She is the only queen we've known not only as an independent country but even when we were a colony and despite the feelings you may have about what she represents. She has shown what it is to live a selfless life of public service and done it with such grace and distinction that by itself is supposed to be something that we should all recognize. Here is a public servant who despite all the trappings that she had she managed to do it with such grace and humility and with love and care for what she did."
We can tell you that the PM's message said simply "For a life of devoted service", signed, John Briceno.
