Maya: Hidden Worlds Revealed- it's the single greatest collection of Maya antiquities found in Belize and showcased to the world. We have been covering its travels for more than a decade as it toured museums across the United States.
Well, after 12 years on the road, the pieces are finally coming back home. NICH announced earlier this week that "over 150 Maya artifacts that were on loan to the Science Museum of Minnesota" have been returned home. Regrettably, it's not to a home-stand encore performance but likely to the co called "dungeon" at the Institute of Archeology where Belize's prized artifacts are stored.
But, those artifacts are taking a well earned rest - we've been following their journey from the first showing in St Paul, Minnesota when we endured a cold December debut. Here's our story from that first opening:
