Tomorrow at the Bliss Centre, there will be a theatrical showcase entitled "Women Over 70 Making Their Voices Heard." It is organized by Maureen Utsman, who returns to the stage 5 decades after her last show. And tomorrow, she will be performing "Stories of My Life," which is described as a poetic journey through memory, loss, love and resilience.
The showcase also features special guest, Nelita Castillo. Today, she spoke more about what her performance will look like.
Nelita Bernadette Castillo, Singer
"This show is not my idea, it was really Maureen's and we come from the same educational background. We are in the same age group. I'm 75, she's 76 and she is doing her one woman story of her life, it's like her biography and she invited me to be the prologue but since the program is called women over 70 making their voices heard, I'm going to be singing songs but my whole life, different songs, in English, in Spanish, and talk a little bit about what they mean to me and where

I was when I sang them so if you want to know a little bit more about the art of my singing, you'll have to come and listen. Music has always been the golden thread in my life, everything I've always done has been in order that I sing. I traveled to Mexico, I left Belize when I was 17, I studied abroad, I went to London, I worked in New York, and studied in New York and most of my professional life was in Mexico actually."
"But this my country, this is where I love and if I hadn't been formed here as a little girl I wouldn't be the person I am today. So please come to our show, Maureen Utsman and Nelita Castillo."
The show starts at 7:00 tomorrow night.
