Earlier this week, the men's national volleyball team was stranded on a Guatemalan highway because of a teachers' protest. One of the players lamented the long bus rides that they have to endure before and after regional games. While the Ministry of Sports does not have a sufficient budget to underwrite heavy travel costs, we asked the minister if to fly national teams to regional events. He spoke in general terms that favored the comfort and readiness of the athletes:

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism, Youth, & Sports
"We should try our best to make them as comfortable as possible. I don't believe in those brutal approaches to going to participate if we have long bus rides and it is a tough situation. I play sports, so you know your legs won't be there so we want to have them as comfortable as possible whenever they are representing our nation."
