April of this year saw the second "Good Deeds Day" in Belize. It's an international initiative that started back in 2007 and while the next Good Deeds Day isn't scheduled until next year, today, a regional conference was held here in Belize to support and grow the program. The director of the initiative told us more.

Hannah Wojno, Director, International Good Deeds Day

"Good Deeds Day is a global movement of doing good. We have our day that we celebrate doing good every year which next year will be on April 12th, it's a Sunday and it's really a way or an excuse you could say to get people to do good in a very fun easy light way."

"This conference strengthens the initiative of Good Deeds Day because one, we're bringing together appointed Good Deeds Day leaders that are coming from different countries in the Caribbean. So this is a conference that we do in five regions in the world. We have appointed leaders from 150 different countries about, who are responsible for growing Good Deeds Day and growing volunteerism in their countries."

Charlotte Nal, Good Deeds Day Leader, Belize
"They cleaned up parks, they cleaned up the beachfront, they fed the homeless, they visited senior homes, we refurbished a parish hall, we had 50 students from SJCJC come out and those students worked extremely hard, we partnered with St John's Vianney to help with getting the parish hall painted so those were some of them and we were from Corozal down to Dangriga that came out participating."
