When government launched its free textbook programme many were disappointed that the PSE practice book compiled by Dr. Arlie Petters had not been included. Well it has now. The Ministry of Education has announced that the book will be made available for free to all standard six students, "of church-state primary schools in Belize." The Ministry has purchased 6,000 copies of the PSE practice book for $102,000.
Standard six students continue to test poorly in mathematics on the PSE. Last year's national average was a woeful 45.8%, an increase of.01 over the previous year.
