PJ Shannon, facilitator
"We are training primarily emphasizing helping children when they must move and we've got must capitalize, we really want children to remain at home to sat with their biological families or to stay with relatives, if that can't happen and we must move them we want people to move them with sensitivity and with caring and to unite them with their families as soon as possible, So in the training we emphasize trauma, grief and lost for children, for their families and for their social workers that provide that care."
Lilliani Arthurs, Deputy Director Human Resources
"We've recognize that moving children is a change in these children's lives and it can be a very traumatic experience and if our officers are not emphatic and understanding of the impact of that move that it can have more long term repercussions for these children and so we really want to arm everybody with the understanding of how critical for them to operate from a sensitive approach to understand trauma and to understand how these children can react to trauma and how we can intensify that trauma in their lives if we do not approach the move from a more sensitive and best practice approach."
The seminar wraps up tomorrow at the Belize ITVET.
