On July 28th when the Ministry of Education launched its new, competency-based National Curriculum Framework, Minister Francis Fonseca promised that it would be implemented in schools countrywide by January of 2023.

And by late August the common complaint among teachers is that many of them have yet to see many of the units that they will be expected to teach.

We put that question to Chief Education Officer Yolanda Gongora yesterday and here's what she said about how and when units are expected to be released.

Yolanda Gongora, Chief Education Officer
"I sent out, as the Chief Education Officer, a memorandum circular to all schools in June indicating that the memo has the dates for all the units and assessments. would be uploaded and they are all at the end of the month. So, for example for September and October, they will receive the unit plans for, that's unit plans and assessments for those two months for the 31st of August and then in October they will be receiving the one for November and December and it goes on like that so a circular was sent out to all schools so I just would. like to ask if principals have not circulated if you can do so. So, that the teachers are aware that there are designated. dates that we will be uploading the units and assessments on all our portals as well as providing it to our managing authorities.. Rember this is a transition year and as we go about the months we will be understanding what are the challenges we are experiencing and be able to do a better job the following month."
