When you were a kid you probably learned that Columbus sailed the Ocean-blue in three ships: the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.
But today Columbus is no longer a bold yet confused explorer, instead he's the flag bearer for genocide and colonialism, and the figure that would unleash untold cruelties, oppression and disease on millions of native peoples.
And with this type of historical revisionism making its way into all the histories and the Belizean studies curriculum focusing on what for all these years have been untold histories, will there be anything classic for this generation to learn?
We put that question to Dr. Angel Cal today at the Ministry of Education's event. Here's what he told us.
