No matter how many times we tell you about it, every time there is a crocodile sighting in the urban sprawl of Belize City, it is news. That's because the feared predator is a scary sight and its capacity to devour domesticated animals is legendary. Well today it's no different and the crock catchers from the Forestry Department were in the Belama area trying to catch a croc. We spoke to Marian Garnett who called in Darrell Novelo from the Ministry.

Marian Garnett, Belama Resident
"What happened is that this crocodile has been here for over a year now and he has never been harm to anyone but the other day he jumped after a little boy and this morning about 8:30 we saw the croc come up, hold a puppy, and went with it and then it came back for another one so that is two puppy for the day. My concern is that I have grandchildren playing in the yard and one of these days, you can never tell what can happen. So it is time for him to move."

Darrell Novelo, Forestry Department
"We were summoned out here. We came out here to snare it and relocate it to another area but we have been unsuccessful because it is underneath a cement bridge and because it has taken some food, basically it will not be active coming out very soon, it will be digesting the food. But we hope to snare it and take it out somewhere."

Although the crock was not caught Novelo says that if they are called out they will be coming back to attempt once again.
