BEL is asking customers to conserve power during daylight hours all this week. That's because CFE, which provides power from Mexico, is doing maintenance on the interconnection between BEL's grid and CFE's substation at Xulha. A statement from the utility says, "As a result of this, BEL will not be able to source energy from CFE for a period of five days between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day from Monday, February 5 to Friday, February 9, 2024."

Now, BEL says it has enough local sources of power in hydro, biomass, fossil fuel, solar and gas turbines to keep the lights on during this period. But it would help if you could turn off a few extra lights or AC's. The statement says, "Customers are still asked to assist in managing energy demand by practicing energy conservation where possible."
