The reporting on jaguars and other big cats recently has not been good. In fact, on Friday's news we told you about an ocelot that had been knocked down.
Well, over the weekend there was one shot of good news. It came from the Forestry Department which relocated what it calls a a Conflict Jaguar from Hope Creek. A. Post says that working in close partnership with The Belize Zoo & Tropical Education Center and the Corozal Sustainable Future Initiative, their team took swift action to ensure the animal's safe removal and relocation.
On Saturday, the jaguar was safely captured and transported to The Belize Zoo, where a full health assessment was conducted. The animal was fitted with a tracking collar for constant monitoring. On Sunday, August 10th - the jaguar was, quote, "successfully relocated into a suitable habitat where it can continue to thrive."
