In December she and her four month old son were shot and doctors told her she would never walk again, but Lisa Garoy has defied the prognosis. Garoy has now left the hospital and has returned to Taylor's Alley, but she is still in a wheelchair. We met her last Friday leaving the hospital after physical therapy and she told us she doesn't plan to stay in a wheelchair.
Lisa Garoy: I could get off the bed and go into the wheelchair.
KS: Still have hopes of walking?
Lisa Garoy: Yes because I could stand up. I will walk again.
Cynthia Gentle, Mother
"She is doing good, she is getting up out of the wheelchair and she is going to bathroom by herself. She goes from the bed to the wheelchair and from the wheelchair to the bed. She is doing very good."
Doctors told Garoy she wouldn't walk again because the bullet tore through her abdomen and hit her spine. Garoy's four month old son Leroy Rhaburn Jr., suffered a fractured arm. Brendale Michael was charged for the shooting.
