And all hands on deck means also recruiting new hands. The Prime Minister told us today that the Cabinet has discussed ways to get student and retired nurses into the health system to lighten the load and provide more human resources to the vaccination campaign.
Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Recognizing that our workers our healthcare workers are stretched to the limit and we certainly appreciate what they're doing because they make great sacrifice and because of that alone, I think we as citizens need to be more careful, we need to wear our masks, social distance, and get vaccinated because they are reaching their limit. We agreed in Cabinet and we asked the minister to look at trying to bring in more people, to train some people, looking at those who are already studying as nurses in Belize to see if he can bring them in to help us in the vaccination process because we need to get this done as quick as possible."
"Minister Perez brought it up in Cabinet that there are a lot of retired doctors and nurses and especially expats here I the islands that want to help and anywhere in the country, the minister has said we need to reach out to them and that's what we are going ot be doing."
