But, first, just like that… area rep for Orange Walk East and the former Minister of Youth, Sports, and E-Governance, Kevin Bernard found himself the new Minister of Health.

And right about now calling that appointment a whirlwind would be an understatement. That's because while the nation found out about PM Briceno's cabinet reshuffle just before noon, Bernard, the man thrust into what is currently the most important Ministry in government, only found out this morning.

Our news team sat down with him for an extended interview this afternoon and we'll have that in its entirety on tomorrow night's newscast, but tonight we bring you a key snippet in which Bernard tells us what he plans to do differently in his new post as Minister of Health which for all intents and purposes is currently Ministry of the pandemic.

Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health
"It's all about communication. I have decided that while we have the team of doctors that we have to work with at the Ministry of health, I also, I have very good doctors who are my friends and I can, and I will say this personally I believe that building an advisory team that will comprise of many, many medical professionals around to help me make the right decision is what is important and so we have to hit the ground running."

"We cannot sit back and wait on anything and like I said tomorrow evening myself and Minister MICHO will sit down in the meeting together to look at what was there and what he feels need to be strengthened and what I feel from my own perspective would need to be gathered, I will then proceed to meet with other people but at the same time things are happening. So, we have to be constantly on the go. I know it's a dynamic ministry, it's talking about the health of our nation and I will do my utmost best to ensure that I can lead in an effective manner."

You'll hear more from Kevin Bernard in his new role tomorrow night.
